With 2020 now behind us, it is encouraging to feel the optimism that comes with a new year in full swing. It’s a time of planning, preparation, dreams, and vision. What will we accomplish together? How will we make a difference? The possibilities are endless.
And while there are so many reasons to be hopeful, there is no question that COVID-19 has taken a toll on our community. The impact of physical distancing and an economic slowdown on the mental and physical health of our community will continue to be felt in the months and years to come.
Last year, our community faced challenges we have never seen before in The Vic Foundation’s 50-year history. It is your support that helped us through this difficult time and ensures we can continue to be there for our community when it matters most. It is through your generosity that we are transforming mental health care and elder care to ensure our community receives the best possible care when and where they need it — at home, in the community, or in hospital. We’ve come a long way over the years, and your ongoing commitment to the health and wellness of our community continues to make us stronger year after year.
In this issue of Voice, you will learn about some of our most recent initiatives. We’ve included stories about our telepresence robot and COVID-19 research investments, how our new Send A Smile To A Senior program is fighting social isolation and supporting local businesses, and how the generosity of our community spread holiday joy on Giving Tuesday.
As we move through 2021 — The Vic Foundation’s 50th anniversary — I look forward to sharing even more of these stories with you, and I can’t wait to see what we will accomplish together over the next 50 years.
With heartfelt thanks,
Charlene Rocke
