Discovery & Innovation
With your support, we will remain at the forefront of innovation.
The Vic Foundation has been dedicated to improving the health and well-being of our community for the past 50 years, and with your support, we will continue to pursue new ideas, new research, and new technologies to enhance quality of life right here in our community.
We believe strongly in working together to drive change through innovation, which is why we are so proud to partner with Research Manitoba. This inaugural strategic partnership gives us the opportunity to advance research in our province and support made-in-Manitoba solutions from our own talented local researchers.
Through the generosity of our supporters and our strategic partnership, we have invested in three innovative research initiatives:
- Telepresence Robots - Informal caregivers play a vital role in our healthcare system, though this tremendous responsibility can impact their own personal health and well-being. The Vic Foundation has a proud history of helping Manitobans live safely and independently at home through our Victoria Lifeline service, which is why we are so pleased to invest $180,000 in an innovative telepresence robot project to assist these caregivers and support their essential work. These robots offer two-way communication to help caregivers provide care for those living with dementia while maintaining their own careers, homes, and family life.
- COVID-19 Clinical Trials - With thousands of Manitobans facing challenges due to COVID-19, The Vic Foundation invested $100,000 in eight clinical trials to help make an impact on the health, safety, and well-being of our community. This important investment enables our world-class researchers in Manitoba to make their own contribution to the global fight against COVID-19.
- Research Grant Program - We launched our first-ever health research competition in Fall 2020. The Vic Foundation will grant $55,000 to fund excellence in research here in Manitoba to enhance diagnostics, patient care, and treatment management with a focus on adult mental health and elder care.
As we look ahead to another 50 years of discovery and innovation, these important research initiatives are only the beginning of what we can accomplish together.
With your generosity, we will continue to invest in innovation for the highest quality of healthcare today and healthier futures for tomorrow. Please donate now and give as generously as possible.
